Homilies a comin’

January 26, 2005

Probalby tomorrow. It has been a busy few days and now I am feeling a bit ill so I am going to bed.

Another Day

January 22, 2005

Well I made it home. I got the homily written. I delivered it. Now I am close to collapse. Yesterday’s trip was quite an adventure. It will be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Lent will absolutely sail by. It is going to be May or June before I know it. We have a big deanery meeting this week. We should get lots of details on how things will work in the absence of a Bishop. It will be new for most of us as this deanery is pretty young and quite a few of them were ordained by Bishop Carlson.

Moving right along

January 22, 2005

Well I made it in last night finally. Once I did I hopped in my car an started the push for home. The driving was really bad so I stopped after about 100 miles. That means 200 more to go and then get the homily ready. It will be a long day.

Stuck in snow – flight cancelled

January 21, 2005

I am in the Minneapolis airport and my flight to Sioux Falls was cancelled due to weather. I am trying to catch a later flight but it might not make it either. This presents a real dilema. I have to fly back to Sioux Falls to pick up my car to drive 6 hours home. If I don’t make a flight tonight it most likely means having to cancel the Saturday evening mass. So if anyone in Eureka is reading this you might start spreading the word about the possibility….. Developing…..

Another one bites the dust

January 19, 2005

Well another day of vacation gone and another day closer to returning to work. I love being a priest but it is tough being so far from family and friends.

I think today I will spend some time reading and maybe watch another movie. I have been catching up on things I haven’t seen. I would like to see Ocean’s 12 but am having a tough time paying $6.00 for it. That is the Matinee price in Austin.

I am not sure what the plans are for tonight but the company will be good. I have to drive to Houston early on Friday to catch my plane back to South Dakota. Tomorrow I have to start getting the homily ready for the weekend.

It won’t be a fun month or two. We are in the home strecth of losing Bishop Carlson. I am still bummed about that. It was better after having seen him. I always stay at the Bishop’s house when I am in Sioux Falls. Now it will be big and empty which is a bit sad.

I’m praying for a special intention and if that comes through then it will be a big help to me in many ways. I hope you might consider adding it to your prayers.

We recently got a new, beautiful corpus for St. Jospeh’s parish in Eureka. I am really looking forward to seeing it up. St. Anthony’s in Selby also is very close to having their candlesticks refinished which should be a nice addition to the Lord’s table. They also have a good chance of seeing a new set of Vestments and altar cltohs. That should be nice as well.

Well off to pray, do a bit of reading and possibly a movie. It is good to unwind.

I am back from the first half of my vacation. It was great. I have one more week. I hope to sleep late almost every day. That should be good. We also are going to watch Star Wars with my godson for the first time. I was his age when I saw it. It should be an exciting thing and fun thing. We are having a guys night. I am putting myself in charge of food.

I am heading out for vacation today. I need it. I did get to talk with the Bishop last night. It was a good talk. Please pray for him and for our diocese.
