Contributions

Many thanks to all those who have generously offered to make contributions towards the cope. I needed to shift some finances around a bit but it will not end up hurting me and even if it did that would be a good thing a bit. So thank you for the offer but I won’t need it. Need is a key word with me.

What I would like to suggest though is that you might either make a contribution to your local parish or start saving and find others like yourself and go out and buy something nice for your parish if you need it. Many parishes, I find, don’t spend a lot on the liturgy and sometimes the things used are not very noble.

This way you can donate something to your local parish of true beauty and that will go towards raising the bar in all our parishes.

If you really think that isn’t an option for you I recommend this as a very worthy donation.

This Church is magnificent and the pastor is going to do a very good job in restoring it. It definitely won’t be gutted.

If anyone wants to make pilgrimages to beautiful church’s ont the prairie let me know and I can put together a great list for you as well as a super neat bed and breakfast owned by a Catholic Couple. They have great lunches and it has the best brocolli and cheese soup I have ever tasted.

Thanks, Fr. Todd, for your Public Commitment to Holy Celibacy that you mentioned in your last Posting.Incidentally, Msgr. Hebda referred to a newly released book. It is a compendium of reflections by Priests who ministered at one of the three sites during the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001. I read that this volume, which is free, is available from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Your readers may appreciate being alerted to this work. The URL is:

May God bless you, Fr. Todd.

You should post a picture of yourself using the cope. Those of us who have been inspired by your posts would love to see it.

Happy First Saturday, Fr. Todd, and Happy First Friday (yesterday). I love the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary very much!

Thanks for your link to St. Anthony Chuch in Hoven, South Dakota. I went there many times and made a contribution to Father Oser, its fine young Pastor. It’s very kind of you to encourage your readers to help out the Parish financially as it repairs the Church. I heartily second your recommendation. Leo George Chiesa

Fr. Todd, I read that there is a big football game in Sioux Falls tonight involving the Catholic high school. I thought to myself, too bad Fr. Todd can’t go to the 50 yard line before the game begins and say a prayer. This would be terrific! (But I did read that your Bishop will celebrate Mass during the afternoon.) Jim

I will be at the game. It is called the Dakota bowl and some say it is the largest high school football game in the United States. I am pretty sure that isn’t true. Football is taken much more seriously in Texas, where I grew up.

Still 10,000 people is about 7% of the population of Sioux Falls. Not too bad for a little prairie town.

Oh, Fr. Todd, what a disappointment!

Thanks for the suggestion, Father. A very worth cause, indeed.
